I am digging these mini cupcakes! How cute would these be passed on a silver tray- they could come out towards the end of the night or servers could have them on trays as your guests exit- what a fun goodie to leave with! This is also an inexpensive way to substitute a groom's cake. The best part- they are $70 for 100!!! I think I MUST put a call into Baked by Melissa STAT!!!

Why I could never be a floral designer...

Blessed Unions donated the arrangements for the Subway Tent at The Fort Worth MS Walk a few weekends back. All they told me was that they had to be orange. I LOVE flowers and don't get the chance to do many arrangements, so it was a wonderful opportunity! Those, like my sweet mama!, who could not walk the entire walk but wanted to be a part of such a great day sat in the tent. So, I wanted the flowers to be interesting and colorful.

I LOVED putting these together but it reminded me that I could never be a floral designer and that it takes a SPECIAL and UNIQUE talent, as well as lots of knowledge and experience, to make arrangements just perfect!

I used oranges in the base of the tulip arrangments and limes in the base of the orange rose arrangements. In the far right one, I wrapped the tulips in the bowl (I have always loved that look when I have seen it done by others). I tried to make each one a little different. I am selfish enough to think that my centerpieces would be a conversation starter when they all realized that each one was different!

And here is our awesome team, The Fighting Kangaroos, that raised over $9,000 for The National Multiple Sclerosis Society!!!

Of course, the same day as the walk, Blessed Unions was asked to be a part of some of the best bridal shows in the area- The Belo Mansion's, Stonebriar Country Club's in Frisco, and The Grand Ballroom at Rick's. Sydney covered for me and did the one at Rick's in McKinney.

Since I was a child, I have had a fascination with Blue and White! I own blue and white books, china, vases, blah, blah. You don't see that incorporated into weddings that often, so this was my chance to do that. Again, showing me that there is a reason we hire floral designers to create gorgeous arrangements- my work is pretty novice, but I still loved doing it and was excited to use some of my blue and white "stuff!"

This could be my favorite arrangement EVER!!! These lush hydrangea in this aged urn- Todd Events- always exquisite! Also notice the "shot glass" votives- I love the sleekness of these!

Oh how I love a gorgeous, captivating, wow your guests as soon as they walk through the doors or pull up to the drive ENTRANCE!!! Don't overlook that detail or cut it out trying to save money. Your guests will remember this and be impacted by this detail more than they will notice two extra large centerpieces on your guest tables! Not to mention, it is the LAST thing your guests take in as they exit a precious ceremony or a rocking reception!

There are multiple ways to add this WOW factor (as you will see in these fun pics): wreaths, draping, candlelight, stunning, massive centerpieces, intriguing groupings, cool furniture that you don't expect to see, gobos, flowing ribbon streamers, striking linens, and even your wedding cake! This can totally be something you do on your own, too! Collect cool, eclectic votive folders of different heights and mass with photos- purchase a striking, unique vase at Home Goods and stick a giant bunch of Bells of Ireland or blooming branches in it- get a giant branch (my husband does not understand my obsession with wood!) and have it dripping in crystals- purchase a cool runner in your colors- make your guests feel like they are at your home and create a "coffee table" with books, photos, julep cups, a bowl of fruit or pots of succulents... Let your guests see YOU as soon as they walk through the main doors! Oh! And don't forget to put your programs in something other than a boring basket! Find a cool platter or tray or feather them in wheat grass. Nothing kills me more than a stunning program just sitting bare on an existing entry table- BLAH. Spice it up! Have I made my point?!?!

"You had me at hello" and you got me again at "good-bye." (I don't think Tom Cruise says that in "Jerry Mcguire" but I had to close it up!). ENJOY!!!!

I can't stop looking at this picture- WOW!!! Candlelight can never be overrated! Notice how the frames are crystal to pick up the candlelight. And the water is actually tinted in shades of pinks and lavenders. You could see this as you pulled up in your car. I love that! Reception at Gleneagles... The Wildflower provided all the candelight, crystals, and draping!

Do something unique with your placecard table! The Wildflower used rice for the rich, Asian feel that Liza wanted. You can use wheat grass, petals- all kinds of cool stuff!!! Your guests will want to touch it! And notice the red drapes leading guests into The Grand Ballroom at Rick's...

I want to touch this too- I LOVE this feathery, fluffy wreath. Hayley wanted an initial wreath so bad, so Stacey at The Wildflower put this at the entry gate of The Cotton Mill in McKinney

It was this entry piece that inspired this post! I could not stop looking at this! Stacey at The Wildflower created this collection of Ali's favorite colors and flowers in the foyer at Eldorado Country Club. Wow! Wow! Wow! Thank you for an incredible 2009! I have several brides and families who allowed me to be a part of their wedding planning even though they knew I was pregnant; that means so much to me and I am beyond grateful! Here's to another year of precious couples, many laughs, sweet tears, and touching moments that give you goosebumps! I cherish the fact that I was the one standing there as these treasured brides walked down the aisle! Can I say again that I LOVE my job! Wishing you a BLESSED holiday and an exceptional 2010!

Marriage License MUSTS in Good Ole' Texas! An Abbreviated, Entertaining, and Totally UNserious Version!

Let's make all these months of exciting, exhausting, frustrating, fulfilling, dramatic, laborious, precious planning OFFICIAL and get you a marriage license! The State of Texas recently increased their fee, so I had to rewrite some of the info that I put in my BEAUTIFUL BLESSED UNIONS' BRIDES notebooks! Thought I might as well include some of it in here for a bride that may not want to read the boring version provided by the State of Texas/License/Records/Blah, blah, blah Department. In a fun nutshell, this is what you and your hot groom need to know/have to get officially hitched....

For ONE!!! If you are wanting to marry your cousin/brother/sister, then you are out of luck! That ain't legal and it just ain't right! Glad we got that out of the way....

Onto the boring stuff (that part about marrying someone you're related to always cracks me up!)....

~Both you and your groom must go TOGETHER to get your license! The groom hasn't really been involved in any of the planning (besides his cake and bow tie), so why start now, State of Texas?! I'm teasing!!!! sort of....

~Your license is valid for 30 days, so get this out of the way FAST!!! You don't want to fit in a time to go to the courthouse the week of your wedding. As soon as you hit the one month countdown, make a lunchdate with your groom and head to the Records Department.

~Now get this- especially for those of you who live out of state and are having your wedding here- there is a 72 hour waiting period. Keep this in mind when making flight reservations! This means you want to have your license by the Wednesday (if you're having a Saturday wedding) before your wedding.

~Bring your driver's license and as silly as it sounds (AS I am writing this, by the way, my driver's license is expired!), MAKE SURE YOUR LICENSE IS NOT EXPIRED!!!

~Besides the budget that you already blew, it ONLY costs $71 to get married! BRING CASH! Visa won't work- for once in the planning!

~Your marriage license is valid anywhere in Texas. So say that you live in Austin, but you are having a fabulous Dallas wedding, you can still get your license in Austin.

~The State of Texas no longer requires a blood test, so no worries there. Personally, I don't think a blood test is a bad idea, but that's just me!

~Did I mention that if you're not 18 you must bring mommy or daddy with you? I don't think your wedding coordinator counts???

On the Wedding Weekend....

~Bring the license to the rehearsal- if you have one of those crazy best men who is only interested in getting to the party, then don't make him responsible! If his head IS in the game, then put him in charge of connecting with your officiant. If not, pass this duty onto your Maid of Honor.

~After the wedding, your officiant should mail the license off for you. Then the official one comes in the mail.

~Some couples have someone make a copy of their license if they are traveling internationally. Kind of a pain for the one who has to hunt down a copy machine but can be helpful.

Now! Where to go (or who to call if you don't consider me to be a valid source! Whatever!) to get this special piece of paper!

I have to brag on one of my brilliant brides (her husband is a West Point grad, so I guess he's pretty smart too!)... Rather than have a registry book, Stacy and Bill ordered a Marriage Certificate and had their guests sign that at the reception- what a great keepsake, as well as something for your wall in your new home! The guests really enjoyed being able to do that!

THE MOB!!! Fabulous Mother of the Bride Dresses!

Of course, the bride's gown is of the most importance, but The Mother of the Bride dress is ALMOST as important! I love seeing the mother of the bride walk into the church all spruced up and feeling hot! She SHOULD feel that way and deserves some pampering too! In fact, I think it is so important that the mother of the bride (and mother of the groom, I should say!) get her hair and make up done! You want to feel like you are looking your best as well, as you greet friends and fam that you haven't seen in a long time. When it comes to pictures, professionally- done make up, especially makes a huge impact- you won't be sorry!

If you follow my blog and facebook, you know I love this couple and you know how much they mean to me! The best part is that they only live 10 minutes away from me! I received their video highlight from Soulbox Productions recently and wanted to share it. Their ceremony was in the gorgeous Faith Chapel at Prestonwood and Stacey Murdoch with The Wildflower transformed Gleneagles Country Club with candlelight and crystals! I don't have to tell you how happy this couple is and how much they love each other- this highlight says it all!

I was so honored to be a part of Leah and Jack's wedding day this past October! They were a dream couple to work with- so in love, so grounded in their faith, enjoyed every minute of the planning, their families were amazing, and they looked like a Hollywood couple! Soulbox Productions, as always, perfectly created and depicted the sweetness and beauty of Leah and Jack's wedding day. Please enjoy this precious highlight!

The team at Christ Church created the most meaningful, touching, and organized ceremony! Thank you, Micah!

Hope, Anna, and Gaby at The Fort Worth Club were AMAZING throughout the entire planning process and, of course, the day of!

This was my first time to work with Bill with Flowers on The Square and it took no time to figure out what all the fuss is about- amazingly talented! Check out the incorporation of ferns, pears, twigs, lanterns, iron work, and lush fall-toned roses- so fall and so unique!

Leah's uncle, Bobby Erwin, captured the day and night!

Brent Boyd and Think Big! Bulletproof Brass rocked the house all night long and kept all of Leah and Jack's California guests on the dance floor the whole night!

Absolute did an unbelievable job with the lighting and helped enhance the mood throughout the night. Their addition really made an impact and I was so glad the Debords used them for lighting!

SOOOOO Yummy!!! "I love the weddings at the home!" What movie?!?

I cannot express how excited, tingly, and giddy I get when I look and think about this wedding. I have written about this couple and their day in different places, but here are the things you need to know about what made this wedding SO yummy and unforgettable!:
-It rained more in one day in Fairview than it had in over a decade- it waited for their wedding day to completely let loose!
-Holly is obsessed with weather and always had been, so everyone knew that the inclement weather and surrounding tornadoes were produced especially for her wedding day!
-The detail, time, and creativity that Holly and her parents put into this charming wedding were beyond memorable! Many of the details were collected throughout the year from flea markets, Etsy, etc. Love it!
-All of the guests wore rainboots and flip flops- Holly's family is still finding shoes on their property that got permanently stuck in mud
-The tent collapsed by the end of the evening (this was after we relocated to garage)
-Holly, Nathan, and their parents never stopped smiling- no other family could have handled this craziness the way they did!

-I must mention that this wedding has been featured on Style Me Pretty- enough said!
-This wedding was an incredible reflection of the couple and their style- I really should just shut up and let the INCREDIBLE photos that Kate with Juxtapose Photography captured tell the story- she was amazing!!!
Can I say again how much I LOVED this wedding?!?

Okay- I know I said the door was my favorite, but this is too! I love these apothecary jars at the registry table- filled with moss, rocks, herbs...So unique and impactful as the guests entered.

Okay- you can't get yummier than this!! Look at this precious ring bearer in his little Mexican wedding shirt and Miss Millie (Kate's daughter) in her little fairy outfit. Please note the Hello Kitty rain boots!

What can I say?!?

Not quite sure, but she made it!!! My white legs looked so hot in my rainboots!

Notice Mr. Whitehead's rain boots- this was not his planned "outfit." I think that was the least of his worries at this point!

Do you see that this bride is walking through mud in her gown and having her ceremony in the tent (not the original plan) and she is STILL smiling!?! THIS is why I love her! Check out that yummy bouquet too!

I had to go buy some new dresses that my growing baby bump could fit into and just in passing a couple of stores, spotted so many precious, fun dresses that would be perfect for a rehearsal dinner! YOU ARE THE BRIDE! You should stand out at your rehearsal and at the dinner, and NO ONE else should wear white but you. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THAT and have fun with it!

WORK IT, BRIDE! LET YOUR WHITE SHINE!

These are just a couple of ideas, but there are so many super cute dresses out there for spring and summer right now! I wanted to buy one SO bad, but how tacky would it be for the wedding coordinator to show up in white? I can't even think about it!

This was at Francesca's and they totally worked it up with all these fun pearl and gold necklaces- there are crystal embelishments around the waist line that don't show up too well in the picture.

This is the dress that grabbed me at Ann Taylor Loft- MUCH cuter in person! Gorgeous detail and just feminine and youthful. If you are having a more casual rehearsal dinner, this is perfect! Jazz it up with some fun colored jewelry!

Of course, no one can afford Anthropologie, but IT'S YOUR WEDDING! That might be your one time to allow for the excuse of buying something there (besides a candle).

This dress above was just okay at first, but then I saw the back- SEXAY (but still bridal, of course!!!)

I think this one is so sweet! I love its vintage look. With some great shoes and cute hair style- any bride would have it goin' on!

I had the privilege of working with Tracy and Landon and their wonderful, close-knit families in March. I love this wedding because it is another Melissa wedding, and they are such a fun group of people to work with- always great seeing those familiar faces! Also, Tracy and Landon's story is touching because Landon is in the Army and will be leaving for Afghanistan in May- he will be there for at least a year. So, please take a moment as you read this and any time you are reminded of these sweet faces to remember Landon, as well as his new wife, Tracy, and their families. Knowing what was approaching just a little over a month from their wedding date, made this day and couple all the more special; I know each guest was touched by their devotion to one another. Thank you, Landon and Tracy for allowing me to be a part of such a special day and time! And, Landon, we pray for your safe return to your hot new wife!!!

This is such an intimate and romantic chapel in the historic area of Frisco! It only holds around 100 guests, so Tracy and Landon had a smaller ceremony and then a BIG OLE' reception at Rock Creek Ranch! I think everyone in Melissa was there!

This cake was freaking DELICIOUS!!! I have to admit that I had three slices- they had carrot, red velvet, chocolate, white with all kinds of yummy fillings- everyone kept coming back for more (including their wedding coordinator- I swear I do more than just eat cake!)! Great new cake connection -Tasteful Design!

I have three girls (I call them girls, but they are obviously grown, accomplished women!) who assist me with weddings on the weekends. They are too talented, gorgeous, and sweet not to spotlight on my award-winning (whatever :)) blog!

What is great about EACH of these girls is that I did (and will be doing in July!) their weddings. We connected so well during the planning that we remained close- they had a passion and appreciation for weddings and the crazy emotions that come with it. We are a perfect balance with one another!

I did Colette's sister's wedding several years ago- Debra and Robert are an INCREDIBLE couple. I became close with the ENTIRE Granberry Family, and now Miss Colette is all grown up! She used to help me when she was in from Baylor, but she recently graduated and is back in Dallas. She helps me out during the week too. We are in the process of planning her AMAZING and I mean AMAZING wedding this July. CANNOT WAIT! Colette also keeps my blog looking fun and hip- she is priceless!

ROXIE, "PREGO"

I did Roxie and Adam's wedding several years ago too- we had an instant connection. Roxie is a huge help on the weekends and is a natural at coordination and organization. So professional- so genuine- I just can't say enough good things about her. Well, I can add that she has EXQUISITE taste- her wedding was the perfect fall wedding. Check it out!

Oh! I forgot to mention that Roxie is pregnant with her first baby, a little boy- too sweet! And due this summer! Man- Colette is getting married- Roxie is having babies- what am I going to do!?!

This is my little Aggie Girl who knows EVERYONE!!! Sydney and Joe will be married five years this July. We had such a wonderful time planning her wedding, and since then, she has hooked me up with all of Melissa. Sydney and Joe are like Coach Taylor and Ms. Taylor from Friday Night Lights- I love them! I love doing weddings with Sydney because she always keeps me laughing!

They had a huge wedding because they are so darn likable- some photos are on my website. They got married so long ago that I can't find their wedding pics, but I am going to dig some up! They are precious!!!

This wedding was a pleasure and honor to be a part of for so many reasons! It was a referral from Joanelle at Gleneagles, so I knew I would love the families! Natalia and Jake both live in New York City, so the planning process was a combined effort of her weekend visits and incredible collaboration of the Mother of the Bride and Mother of the Groom- it was perfect! We had a wonderful time. Because of this wedding, I have been blessed to work with more of these families' friends (Dyan Fox's below and The Shelton Wedding in April)- a group of very genuine people!

Reverend Hasley of St. Andrew United Methodist performed a very sweet and touching ceremony, and Todd Events and Switch transformed Gleneagles- from the moment you pulled up the drive and saw the twinkling candlelight through the windows; it was stunning- as was Miss Natalia! Thank you to Stephen Karlisch for capturing every moment and detail so flawlessly!

Girls' Weekend!!! Celebrating the premier of "Sex and The City: The Movie!"

Even though this isn't a wedding, I had to put in on my blog! My girlfriends and I (like many!) are huge "Sex and The City" followers. SO! I sent my husband and little girl away for the weekend and ten of my closest friends (and my little sister!) cheered in The movie, "Sex and The City" at my home with plenty of cosmos and candy. We had a great time and got through 12 episodes (these were carefully selected, of course!) with plenty of INSIGHTFUL commentary (especially after multiple cocktails!)! After two days of freshening up on our "Sex and the City" trivia, we totally annoyed Tinseltown as we trotted in our cutest pink outfits and watched the movie together on opening night!

I think this party is the whole reason they are coming out with a second movie, don't you!?!

What's a "Sex and the City" party without cosmos?

In honor of Carrie Bradshaw, each of the girls got attacked with a gorgeous and goddy silk flower when they came in!

What a DAZZLING, BLING wedding!!! Missy and her mom came to me knowing exactly what they wanted, and I thought it was produced so beautifully! They chose a venue that allowed a lot of creativity (Stonebridge Country Club in McKinney), but the catering bill didn’t eat up the budget, so we were able to do a lot with décor. Each room was its own masterpiece- guests attended a gorgeous, soft ceremony with a flowing chiffon chuppa, walked up a staircase draped in black satin ribbon and stacked with candlelight, a stunning natural piece of branches and crystals in a silver vessel awaited at the foot of the stairs. From there, they walked down a long corridor that entered into the focal piece- Missy’s cake (I will have to go into that later!). Then, a hip lounge area of zebra rugs and sleek daybeds awaited them. Finally, the ballroom was full of black satin linens, lush, creamy floral pieces with soft feathers, and a dance floor dripping with crystals. It was truly stunning! Oh! I forgot to mention that the outdoor patio area was covered in white, festive paper lanterns! No room was left untouched!

I LOVE this family- Missy and her parents became such a special part of my family’s life, and they even asked my daughter, Samantha, to be their flower girl. They took very good care of her (and me!). They are the most generous and kind-hearted people. They take such good care of their children. In fact, Missy, since she was a young girl, wanted a fireworks show at her wedding. Her mother, father, and I managed to arrange this as a TOTAL surprise to the couple. The show was absolutely incredible- PYROTEX deserves a MAJOR shout out!!! I could go on and on, so I’ll just stop here!

be the flower girl. Stella at Bridal Collections at Stella designed and

made Sam's dress and added feathers to her shoes. Stacey, at The
Wildflower, designed a halo with feathers and crystals!

What a great way to start off 2009! The Allreds attended a wedding I did in 2008- another really great couple, Missy and Greg. This was such a precious family- I especially loved Liz’s dad who admitted to having a queer right eye- he buys the most beautiful bags for his wife and daughter and, like his girls, has such a sense of style; hence, this gorgeous, wintery wedding. Liz’s gown alone is enough to look at- it was truly stunning! The ceremony was at First Baptist, and I love their chapel because it seats a large amount of guests, but is still very intimate. And Meghan Mazzola, the wedding coordinator there, is wonderful! In addition, Lynn McDaniel at The Tower Club is great too! They recently remodeled and the room looks totally different! I love all the plums and deep, rich, winter colors! Perfect for a cold, January wedding!

My FAVORITE part of my job is being with my bride right before she walks down the aisle- the emotion is so strong each and every time. It is truly a privilege.

Each guest’s placecard was tucked inside a monkey tail, which rooted itself out of a cup overflowing with moss- too cute!

WOW!!! This was a FABULOUS wedding!!! Another Aggie wedding- I love it! The Fox Family selected such a great team of vendors to create such a gorgeous wedding. The reception was at The Ritz- it’s hard to beat that! What I loved about this wedding was the after party- it was so chic and so fun! Tommy Evans with Specialty Sound mc’d the entire evening- The Project also did the perfect job of setting the mood. For the after party, Dyan and Chris wanted all 80’s music, so Tommy flashed 80’s videos all night- I wanted to show off my rockin’ 80’s dance moves so bad, but I resisted! Chris Brown TOTALLY transformed the foyer into a winter wonderland (during the reception!) for the after party- guests were amazed as they exited for the send off.

Also, Dyan changed into an after party dress custom made for her- she looked hot! And her shoes were killer! She has so much style, as you will see looking through the photos. These ARE NOT the professional photos of Scott Hagar’s, but I WILL get those up soon! Just didn’t want the novice photos to represent his incredible talent!

When I do not have a wedding, I have the privilege of being hired by Stacey Murdoch of The Wildflower to assist with the finishing touches of her events. I love this opportunity because I get to indulge another side of my job that I don't get to do as often as I would like. I have learned so much by watching Stacey and truly admire the uniqueness, talent, and incredible personal detail that she puts into EACH event and wedding- no matter how big or small.

This gorgeous reception was at The Crescent before its remodel. I thought it was gorgeous and is a beautiful demonstration of colors and special touches- from the floral cake base, to the acrylic boxes used for treats, to the chic lounge furniture in such a classic venue, and a stunningly candlelit foyer inviting guests into the ballroom.

How good-looking are they??? This sounds so cliché, but Missy is as pretty inside and she is out- one of those girls who is so well-loved by everyone. Elaine and Brian were high school sweethearts- I love it! Elaine did not want the traditional hotel ballroom for her wedding. Her father is the CEO of Omni hotels, so it only made sense to use an Omni property, so we transformed the restaurant area, Dover’s, of the Omni Park West into a cool, hip venue for their reception. They had a precious, candlelit ceremony at Prestonwood Baptist- of course, it was flawless because of their meticulous coordinators. Then, guests pulled into the Omni entrance where, the Omni’s AV Team, projected Elaine and Brian’s monogram onto the valet entrance. Stacey, with The Wildflower, proposed that large floral arrangements weren’t really fitting for the space, so we did more décor- mahogany boxes with sweet arrangements, green apples were spread throughout the room, and bright white paper lanterns covered the large dance floor! It looked incredible! The guests had a wonderful time, and the staff at the Omni was unbelievable! A sweet night for a sweet couple!

I miss Morgan and Coby so much! What a great couple that became and remain great friends of mine. We worked together very closely since early summer; the planning process was such a wonderful experience. They Ray Family treated me like family, and I just feel so blessed to have worked with all of them! Okay- enough of the sap! Morgan and Coby came to me with a picture of exactly what they wanted- because of their AWESOME vendors, that was perfectly achieved! They had a lovely and intimate ceremony at Prestonwood Baptist’s Faith Chapel; Prestonwood’s team of coordinators does an incredible job of taking care of their couples. The reception was at Gleneagles Country Club. Again- Gleneagles’ staff is PHENOMENAL! I love working with them because their focus is the bride and groom! Lite Dallas and The Wildflower transformed the room- the colors were amazing! It truly was a beautiful night for a beautiful couple!

What I loved most was Morgan and Coby’s choice for “favors.” Coby just started his own ministry (Check it out! http://www.cobyrayministries.org/), so rather than spend $5 on a box of chocolates that no one cares about, he purchased Bibles for troops overseas. Each guest wrote a note inside, and Coby shipped them off as a way to spread the joy of their special day in such a unique and touching way. Guests were really touched by this gesture. Can you tell how much I love Moran and Coby?!?

Working with Tate Financial Group of McKinney on such a special celebration was a true privilege to be a part of! The key to its success was the talented vendors who made it all come together- Edwards Floral Design, The Wildflower, Suite 206, Gil’s Elegant Catering, Lite Dallas, Gloss Luxury Rentals, and Justin Cash. And, of course, Kate Mefford of Juxtaposed Photography captured every detail and emotion of the evening, and The McKinney Cotton Mill provided the perfect setting! The Tate Family wanted to carry out the look of “Western Chic,” and I think this was perfectly achieved! It was a classy, special, and memorable evening for Mr. Tate, his staff and family, as well as his committed clients.

Rick’s prepared the most delicious Southern pies for dessert, a la mode, of course!

This was such a cool wedding- that is what I think of with Aerin and Alex and the unique ceremony and reception they created as a couple. They didn’t want anything like what they had seen at every other wedding. Aerin made gorgeous floral wristlets for the mothers and floral pins for her bridesmaids. Aerin’s “gown,” alone, shows her style and individuality- a dupioni silk skirt, wrapped oxford, and turquoise beads and flats- I love it- it was so “her!”

A Stylish Soiree totally “got” Aerin, and their décor for the ceremony and reception was perfectly fitting- nothing too arranged. At The Texas Discovery Garden, Aerin envisioned an altar created with a unique table (found that at Suite 206) lined with a trio of gorgeous blooming branches in galvanized tins. My favorite touch, which was featured in D Weddings, was her dressing table, which she used as a registry table for her hand-made programs. Each and every detail! At the reception, an arrangement of mixed tables/seating and varied centerpieces at Times Ten Cellars was just what she wanted. What I love about Times Ten Cellars is the décor and hip furniture that comes with the venue- modern barstools, lounge furniture, gorgeous art-deco wooden tables- items that people pay to bring in. To top off a perfect evening, Aerin and Alex’s friends and fam sent them off with bubble guns, and The Bentleys left in a Bentley- too cute!

Annie and Warren- they rock! And so does Sue, Annie’s mom! We had a blast planning Annie’s wedding, which took about 15 months. It was so springy and fresh- this is what I think of with an April wedding- pink lamour, tulips, hydrangea, Dr. Pepper floats! It was perfect! St. Thomas Aquinas provided the most beautiful backdrop for such a beautiful service. At the reception at Royal Oaks Country Club,TOP kept the party rockin’! Annie’s father was a former executive with Dr. Pepper, so as a surprise to him, we toasted the bride and groom with bottled Dr. Pepper! Also, they left in his old convertible Mustang. I went through a mourning period when this wedding was over- I had definite Annie and Sue withdrawal, but luckily we still keep in touch!

I will try to keep this one as brief as possible, but it will be very difficult for me because this is my little sister! I don’t need to explain why this wedding was so special (I LOVE my little sis, we all LOVE JP and his fam, my little girl was the flower girl, my closest vendors delivered beyond what we could have imagined, the night was so intimate and special, Kat and JP are an INCREDIBLE couple, blah, blah…), but I do want to note one reason that being a part of this special weekend and evening was helpful to me as a wedding coordinator: I was truly reminded of all the crazy nerves and emotions that are involved in the actual wedding and planning. Of course, I know this with every wedding I work, but going through those emotions again and first-hand was needed!

We were working on a limited budget, but I think this looks like a high end wedding- I know I’m biased, but I still think it’s true! Stacey Murdoch of The Wildflower created the most beautiful mantel piece, and the personal flowers and centerpieces were so lovely and so “Kathryn.” The candlelight was beautiful- Kat’s gown was so perfect- their personalized aisle runner- favors made by the mothers- the most fitting setting for Kathryn (a girl who so appreciates history) and JP (working on his Master’s in Architecture), The Historic YWCA of Fort Worth- I could go on and on, so I am going to stop! Of course, I must send a “shout out” to Sil Azevedo for these images- I feel like I am reliving the night- he couldn’t have captured it any better!!!

Well, you can just look at this couple and see why it was such a joy to work with them- they are as precious and genuine as they look in these photos! Working with their families was a blessing too! The funny thing is that I knew Paige as an 8^th grader when I taught at her middle school, and I know and love her mom from The Paper Lion, the stationer where I send all my brides!

The reception was at Eldorado Country Club- if you want to have a wedding with more than 200 guests in McKinney, Eldorado CC is where it happens, so we wanted to bring in some touches to make it a little different. The foyer, which guests see as soon as they pull up, glittered with a gorgeous unique, feminine, and summery arrangement of wheat grass, hanging iron votives, and kissing balls! We also added paper lanterns over the dance floor, which really connected the room! Oh- and BoothBooth is always a fun touch!

Morgan, Coby, and I have been working together very closely since this Spring- they are an awesome couple, and we had so much fun together throughout the many months of planning.
